It's a great way to get outside and discover locations in your own backyard that you probably didn't know existed! Fellow cachers have hidden containers all over Long Island and around the world and posted the locations, hints and longitude and latitude on the internet. GPS users can then use the location coordinates to find the caches. Once found, a cache may provide the visitor with a wide variety of rewards. All the visitor is asked to do is if they get something they should try to leave something for the cache. While the prizes in a cache might be fun, for most the real treasure is the hunt itself.Follow the links below for more information: Long Island Gecaching or www.geocaching.com. |
